Quarry Road Farm Crafts Corkboards | Cutting Boards | email |

| Quarry Road Farm is located next to an abandoned slate quarry and was always better suited for growing rocks than anything else. The tiny bit of soil interspersed with the rocks is poor, the growing season is short, and the markets are distant. The last cows escaped in the middle of the previous century and although the grain barn/chicken coop and milking shed have been maintained, the main barn has been steadily collapsing. |

It is doubtful that the barnboard was ever painted, but certainly at this point, there is nothing but the beautiful, weathered patina that can only be gained from enduring a century and a half of northern New York winters. The 150 year old barnboards are being recycled into beautiful corkboard trivets. |
| The corks are also recycled. You can click on any of the corks for a slightly enlarged picture. The first two are from Remoissenet and Jadot, two of the better producers in the Burgundy region of France. The next is from Guigal, one of the best producers in the Rhone Valley. The last is a generic cork that states: "Mise en bouteille dans nos caves", or, "Put into the bottle in our cellars". There are many more including some fine Bordeaux and several American producers. Corkboards can be made using your corks or left with a cork (or two) missing so that you may insert a cork from a special occasion. |
| The corners are all mitered and glued. The back is routed out to receive a quarter inch plywood insert that is glued in place. The corks are all sized to 1.75 inches and glued with hot melt glue. Four cork feet are attached to the back to protect your table or counter top. All these photos will enlarge if clicked. |

| The cork surface is about seven inches square and the total corkboard is a bit less than ten inches square and 1.5 inches high. The mitered corners and a back recessed into a dado make the trivet sturdy enough for your heaviest pots and the corks can protect your counters from the hottest temperatures that your stove or oven can produce. We use Paypal, the largest secure payment system on the web, for credit card payments. If you are already a member, you know what to do. If not, push the button and you will be asked to sign up, given a five dollar credit for your troubles, and a corkboard(s) will be delivered to your door in about a week. These photos will enlarge, if clicked. This shop will close for the winter on 10 Dec. Please order before then to ensure a timely delivery for Christmas. |
| There is no extra charge for leaving out any corks, but you must mention it in your order. The Paypal payment button allows you to add a message with this request. Please specify how many corks you wish to leave out. For custom orders, the basic cork pattern results in a 3.5 by 3.5 inch square pattern of corks. This can be repeated in both directions as often as desired. The frame will add about 1.5 inches in both directions on both sides, but is variable to meet your required size. The basic cost is $7.50 for each square pattern of corks. Do you have a space next to your stove that needs a heat resistant surface? Measure it and order a stunning, custom made corkboard.
